Dr. Silvoy is committed to quality and efficiency and is always looking for ways to improve dental care for his patients. At his practice in Durham, advanced technology plays an important role in every step of the dental implant process. From the planning stage to the surgical placement of your implants, Dr. Silvoy uses state-the-art software and equipment to streamline the implant dentistry process which means you spend less time and money restoring your smile with dental implants.
3Shape Implant Studio®
Dr. Silvoy saw a need for a completely digital workflow to help himself and other dentists streamline the implant dentistry process. And in 2011, this belief led him to approach the CEO of 3Shape with his ideas, resulting in the creation of the 3Shape Implant Studio.
The 3Shape Implant Studio, along with the TRIOS intraoral scanner, allows dentists to perform digital implantology. This means the entire process is planned and executed with support from a digital system, from the planning stage and surgical guide creation to prosthetics design and implant surgery. This streamlined system allows patients to spend less time in the treatment chair and enjoy a more precise, predictable outcome. It also makes getting a dental implant more affordable because surgical guides and restorations, which would have to be made by a dental lab at a higher cost, can now be made in-house.
The system also allows you to be a part of your treatment plan and see how your implant will look in your own mouth. During your consultation, Dr. Silvoy will display images and treatment plan details on a screen so you can visualize the implant process and what your final result may be.
3D printing has become popular in recent years and is showing up in many industries, including dentistry. This innovative technology plays an important role in the digital implantology process. Dr. Silvoy uses 3D printers to create surgical guides right in his office, instead of having them made by a dental laboratory, saving you time and money.
Impressions can now be made through 3D digital imaging. Digital impressions are much faster and convenient than traditional impressions which use trays and messy impression material. The digital impressions create highly detailed images of the exact shape and location of each tooth for predictable dental implant placement.
