Dental implants are an ideal choice for replacing missing teeth. But the traditional placement method requires you to live with a gap in your smile during the recovery period, which can take several months.
Dr. Silvoy is excited to offer a solution to this problem with immediate load dental implants. Also called same day dental implants, they allow you to leave your appointment with a beautifully restored smile.
Benefits of Same Day Dental Implants
With traditional dental implant placement, your mouth is given the chance to fully heal to ensure the titanium fixture is fused with the bone before the new tooth is mounted. Immediate load dental implants, on the other hand, allow Dr. Silvoy to mount a temporary crown on the implant immediately after it has been installed.
The main benefit of immediate load dental implants is that you don’t have to live with a gap in your smile while you heal. The process of osseointegration–in which the jawbone fuses with the titanium implant fixture–is still very important for the success of your dental implants. However, with same day implants, you’ll have a temporary crown in place during this process which can take several months.
In most cases, the treatment time is much shorter than with traditional dental implants because only one surgical procedure is required. The temporary crown also helps shape the gum tissue as it heals so when the permanent crown is placed it results in a better fit and an ideal appearance.
The Immediate Load Dental Implants Process
The first step in any dental implant process is to visit Dr. Silvoy for a consultation. During this visit, he will examine your mouth, speak with you about your tooth restoration goals, and determine if same day dental implants are right for you. Immediate load dental implants are ideal for patients who are missing one or several teeth scattered throughout their smile but have otherwise excellent oral health.
Once Dr. Silvoy develops your treatment plan, you’ll be scheduled for an appointment to have your implant placed and your temporary restoration mounted in the same office visit. Once the implant area has fully healed and the fixture has fused with the bone tissue, you’ll return to have your permanent restoration placed.
Care for Immediate Load Dental Implants
During the recovery period, it’s important to avoid putting excess pressure on the temporary crown so the implant can properly heal. As with any dental implant, proper oral care at home and regular dental checkups will help ensure your implants last well into the future.
