We do everything we can to make it easy for you to restore your smile and rejuvenate your life with dental implants. At Dr. Christopher M. Silvoy DMD & Assoc. II, PLLC, we guide you through the entire process and customize each step to make sure you’re receiving the best treatment possible.
Below, we’ve outlined the steps of the dental implant process so you know what to expect at each stage.
Your Initial Consultation
Your consultation with Dr. Silvoy is your first step towards replacing your missing teeth with dental implants. By the time you leave the appointment, you should know what to expect from the implant process and understand your treatment options so you can make an informed decision about your treatment.
During the initial visit, Dr. Silvoy will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine the current state of your oral health. This gives him valuable information he’ll use in creating your treatment plan. Dr. Silvoy will also consult with you about your goals and explain your treatment options. Together, you’ll decide whether dental implants are the right treatment choice. The consultation is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about dental implants so you can be confident about your decision.
Your Customized Treatment Plan
Depending on your needs, your treatment plan may involve all or a few of the following steps:
Some patients may benefit from a supplemental treatment performed before dental implant placement. These treatments are designed to prepare the gums, jawbone, and teeth resulting in a more successful smile outcome. Supplemental procedures include bone grafting to strengthen the jawbone, gum disease treatment to reduce infection, and other preparatory treatments.
Dental Implant Placement
The placement procedure will take place after any necessary supplemental treatments are complete. During this visit, the implant fixture will be placed in the jawbone. Some patients may qualify for same day dental implants and have a temporary restoration placed during the same appointment. Other patients may benefit from an additional healing period before their restoration is placed.
Regardless of when the dental restoration is placed, proper healing is extremely important to the overall success of your dental implants. It’s during the healing process that osseointegration takes place, which is the key to the success of dental implants. During healing and osseointegration, the jawbone fuses with the implant fixture, forming a strong bond and solid foundation for the restoration.
Final Restoration Placement
Once Dr. Silvoy determines your implant site has fully healed, your permanent restoration is then placed, either a single crown, multi-tooth bridge, or full-arch denture. You’ll leave this visit with a beautiful, healthy, and fully restored smile.
