Three Steps to Restore Your Smile
If you have missing teeth, dental implants are the only restoration that will protect your oral health in addition to enhancing your smile. At our practice, Dr. Silvoy completes the implant procedure in three steps over the course of several months.
Below, we’ve outlined each step of the implant process so you can be fully prepared for treatment.
Initial Consultation
The first step of your implant journey is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Silvoy. During this visit, he’ll examine the state of your oral health and determine if dental implants are the best treatment option for you. He’ll also answer any questions you have about the procedure.
If Dr. Silvoy finds that your gums or jawbone aren’t healthy enough to support implants, he can help you become a candidate with supplemental procedures. Most commonly, these include bone grafting and gum disease treatment.
Implant Placement
Once he determines you’re ready, Dr. Silvoy will place the titanium implant post directly in your jaw. Depending on your case, you may qualify for same-day implants and receive a temporary restoration right away.
Otherwise, you’ll let your jaw heal for three to six months before returning to our office. This recovery period is crucial because it allows time for osseointegration, the process of your implant fusing with your jawbone to replace the natural tooth root.
Final Restoration
When osseointegration is complete and your jaw has fully healed, Dr. Silvoy will complete your restoration by attaching an abutment and a natural-looking porcelain crown. If you’re missing multiple teeth or a full arch, he can use implants to secure a customized denture for a stunning appearance.
Once your restoration is in place, your treatment is complete and you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile. Best of all, your implants can last a lifetime with proper care.
